Dumfries, Virginia (September 12, 2007) – The leadership of the two towns located within the fifty-second House district are firmly behind Delegate Jeff Frederick’s re-election for a third term. In a joint-announcement, Mayor Fred Yohey (I) of Dumfries and Mayor Al Gasser (I) of Quantico joined Council members from both towns in endorsing Frederick in November’s election.

Town Council members supporting Frederick included Vice-Mayor Clyde Washington (D), Stephanie Bradley (R), Cliff Brewer (I), Sue Cornell (R), and Brenda Via (R), all of Dumfries, and Mary Lou DiMarzio (R), Rusty Kuhns (R), Iris Tharp (D), and Bill Unrine (I), each of Quantico.

The endorsements were made individually, and not as any official act of the Towns.

“I'm honored and grateful to have the bi-partisan support of the mayors and Town Council members of both Dumfries and Quantico. This is a group of people who I’ve worked well with during my time in office, and together we are accomplishing things for those we serve. We also share similar values in making our community a better place to live, work, and raise families, and we all share the view that true political courage is keeping promises one makes with the people once the elections are over. I've kept my promises, and have worked hard for Dumfries and Quantico. I look forward to our continued work together,” Frederick said.

The Town of Dumfries is Virginia’s oldest chartered town, and the Town of Quantico is the only locality in the nation completely surrounded by a military base. Both towns are located at the southern end of Frederick’s legislative district.

“No one has been there like Jeff has, and no one has worked harder for this Town than he has. He's done what he said he would do, and he is a strong partner with us in Dumfries. I'm proud to have him as our Delegate in Richmond -- and we need him there to continue his work on our behalf,” said Yohey.

“Jeff makes a point to regularly visit with me and the Town Council, and he’s always looking for ways we can work together to improve Quantico”, said Gasser.

Washington added “Because Jeff has done a good job for the Woodbridge and Dumfries areas, he has earned and deserves our support. He has been an effective representative for us, and this area needs his continued leadership in Richmond to continue to move our community forward.”

“Since the day he was elected, Jeff has been here in the community always ready to help us – and he has helped. He’s the first one to come into this town and work for us. He’s kept his promise and we need him to continue to serve us. He brings people together and works with all of us to get things done,” said Cornell.

Delegate Frederick was the leading voice in the fight to get funding to expand the Route 234 Commuter lot in Dumfries, to provide state aid in the construction of the Marine Corps Heritage Center, has worked to close the Potomac Landfill, and has otherwise been a strong voice for the re-vitalization of both Dumfries and Quantico.
